Uncle Scott Wants YOU! to Buy American

PC - Made in USA - November 2013

Made in USA – November 2013 by GerritsenBeach.Net

BUY MADE IN USA is a slogan nearly all of us Liberty-Lovers will nod our heads in support of. It’s a common sense, feel good, rallying kind of sentiment that we all want to get behind, and do our share to support. Well, most of the time anyway… right? When money is tight, and the old family budget is once again on the line, the beckoning lights of mass marketers neatly stocked with inexpensive imports can be a strong pull that very few can deny. Here’s something to think about.

FACT FOR THE DAY

In 2011, our trade deficit with China was $295.5 billion. That was the largest trade deficit that one country has had with another country in the history of the planet.

So what does this mean, really? Well, according to the Economic Policy Institute, America is losing half a million jobs to China every single year. And basically, the higher the jobless rate in the US, the longer the lines in the unemployment and welfare offices. “So what?” you might say. “I still have a job. I’m doing my part; I’m not draining the system.”

But this loss of American workforce is costing you a lot more than the extra two or three dollars to buy a USA made DIY part at Lowe’s. You might not be draining the system, but the system is draining YOU.

CONSIDER THIS

How much more have you been paying in taxes over the past ten years? How much more is your health insurance costing you today than it did five years ago? What about your grocery bill? Every penny you send overseas is costing you a lot more than you might think.

“In just the last 10 years the United States has lost out on approximately $2 trillion in cumulative trade deficits with China alone. Had that $2 trillion of forfeited production taken place in America, it would have generated — based on a conservative 30 percent tax rate — $600 billion of national revenue and created millions of jobs in the United States.” ~Roger Simmermaker, author of “How Americans Can Buy American.”

ANOTHER FACT TO MAKE YOUR LIP CURL

Wal-Mart earns over $15 billion per year in pure profit and pays its executives handsomely. However, “Wal-Mart’s poverty wages force the company’s employees to rely on $2.66 billion in government help every year, or about $420,000 per store. In state after state, Wal-Mart employees are the top recipients of Medicaid. As many as 80 percent of workers in Wal-Mart stores use food stamps. “ What do you think Wal-Mart is truly costing you for that couple of bucks you save at their store?

Here’s the point. Buying USA made has now become much more than a sense of patriotism or pride in our country. It’s now a last-ditch effort to retain our way of life. Here’s the good news – you can help. How? It’s simple. Don’t save that dollar today – pay it forward to secure tomorrow.
